What is Reflexology ?
Reflexology is a gentle holistic treatment which dates back to ancient Egypt and China. It was not until 1913 that an eminent American surgeon, Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West. The theory behind reflexology is that energy moves through the body via a specific series of energy zones with the feet and hands being a gateway to these energy channels.
If you have been stressed or suffering from an acute or chronic condition your body will be in a state of imbalance, the energy channels will become blocked and your body will be unable to function efficiently.
By using precise hand and finger techniques, Valeria will apply pressure on specific reflex points along or within these zones on the feet, which correspond to all organs and systems of the body, encouraging the on-flow of energy which can help to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium, promoting the process of self-healing and maintaining the balance which leads to good health.
What will happen when I go for a treatment ?
On your first visit Valeria will conduct a full personal consultation. This will take into consideration your past and present health and lifestyle. The consultation enables the holistic treatment to be tailored to your specific needs. All of this will be discussed on a confidential basis.
A reflexology treatment lasts about 1 hour. As it is the feet which are generally treated you simply remove your socks and are invited to sit or lie on a comfortable treatment chair or couch.
